Jessica Smith Participates in ENMU Theater Presentation of Burn, Crave, Hold

2014 Feb 7

Jessica Smith, of Carlsbad, NM, participated in the production of Burn, Crave, Hold; written by Matt Opatrny, directed by Jessica Burr and produced by ENMU's Department of Theatre. The play was held in the University Theatre Center's Studio Theatre.

Burn, Crave, Hold is an original script written by Mr. Opatrny about the life of TIME Magazine war-correspondent and journalist, James Wilde (1929-2008). Wilde, who covered the Vietnam War, the first Gulf War, the revolutionary movement in the Congo among other events in Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, wrote a book of poems about his experiences covering wars, famine, and political unrest. Much of his book, Crocodile Shoes, finds its way into the script of Burn, Crave, Hold, and describe the horror and the bravery Mr. Wilde encountered.
