William "Bill" Moyer produced a documentary titled "A Brief History of Windmills," which was one of four finalists at the annual fall regional conference of the South Central Broadcasting Society.

Portales, NM (11/02/2017) — Eastern New Mexico University student William "Bill" Moyer attended the annual fall regional conference of the South Central Broadcasting Society (SCBS) to showcase his documentary at West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas, from Oct. 6-7.

Bill produced a documentary titled "A Brief History of Windmills," which was one of four finalists. He received a certificate of recognition.

His documentary, which can be viewed here, focused on water-pumping windmills and electrical turbines in Roosevelt County in New Mexico.

"A Brief History of Windmills" was not Bill's first documentary; he has made five or six projects for various classes at Eastern. They were "simple projects ranging from two minutes to ten minutes to learn how to edit video and audio."

He was "drawn to creating documentaries" because he finds them to be "informative and educational."

The television broadcast production major, who is working on a minor in digital filmmaking, will graduate in May 2018. He is hoping to find employment at KENW in master control and produce content for the television station to broadcast.

Bill, who has been named to the Dean's List four times, was the Department of Communication's "Outstanding Student in Broadcast Production" in 2016 and "Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Communication" in 2017.
